Default OEM Fuel filter

At some point over this winter I'm going to pull the fuel tank off my XL1200C and replace the fuel level sensor. It pops the idiot light on and off an odd intervals. While in the tank, I figured I'd replace the fuel filter, since it's 10 years old and has 30K miles on it. The thing is, the HD filter is $90. SRSLY?? I see off-brand filters for $20. I usually stick with HD parts, but this cost seems more outrageous than usual.

Anybody have any info about this?

Any reason you prefer HD parts on the parts such as filters? A majority of their stuff is just relabeled for a higher price. Id rather run a KN oil filter and get NGK spark plugs for less money. Just my two cents. I wouldnt go cheap but often the best possible brand will cost less than the HD part. I dont remember who makes the Day maker but it isnt harley. Its really only like 80$ if I remember correctly.

Well I actually do use a K&N oil filter, NGK plugs and I have an LED headlight from Amazon, and some other aftermarket stuff. When I've replaced little stuff on the chassis like bolts, clamps, and other misc items, HD usually isn't too bad. But $90 for a fuel filter seems crazy. J&P has a kit with clamps & o-ring for $39, I guess I'll go with that.

I replaced mine with a Drag Specialties filter I believe around 65k I didn't want to pay the outrageous price Harley wanted. I paid $40 for the filter.
