Default Need stopping power

I have modded almost every part of my bike minus the braking system and it is about time I get around to it. Having a fast bike with low braking power is like having a snooze button on a fire alarm.

Because I swapped wheels, dual disc setup is not an option for me. However, I will be replacing the stock 2 piston caliper with a 4 piston drop in replacement. I am debating on stainless hoses but the stock ones and stock master cylinder should work fine.

I will post back with my results and install when my parts arrive.

ditch the stock lines. they expand under pressure and get worse when the fluid get warmer.

lines:
  1. https://spieglerusa.com/brakes.html (best bet)
  2. http://www.helperformance.com/
  3. goodridge.com
  4. https://www.magnumshielding.com/

pads:
rotors:
  1. https://ebcbrakes.com/products/brake...rs-motorcycle/
  2. https://shop.lyndallbrakes.com/collections/all/Rotors
  3. http://galferusa.com/products/rotors
  4. http://www.wilwood.com/Motorcycle/Index.aspx

many opportunities to upgrade... braided lines are a must. doing the other stuff with out the lines is almost a waste of bacon.

Hey Cvaria, what are you using for your rear brake line and caliper?

Thanks Cvaria! I am likely going with the designer series in pearl black from magnum shielding as far as the lines are concerned. The one piece EZ align is cheaper but I think the two piece is probably better.

As far as pads and rotors, I am gonna wait and see how the stock pads feel on the old rotor. I believe the new caliper comes with new pads on it already so when I wear down the pads I will replace the rotor. I was considering a floating rotor just for the looks as it is not necessary for the type of riding I do.

I am having trouble finding something that fits the rear of my 2011 48. I was hoping to upgrade to stainless steel brake line on the rear. I called magnum and they said they would be willing to look at a picture and see if the engineering team can figure something out.

call them, it may not be easy to find. speigler will just build it for you though. the 2007-2013 rear line is/was kinda funky to add a location for the brake light switch and route from below to above the swingarm.

Hey Cvaria.
Is this the same rear line you posted a picture of above? Your picture looks exactly like what I need but I want it in black. I am having trouble finding a rear line. Stealership can order me one but its only in the bright stainless color as opposed to black.

For more stopping power, if you haven't already done so shouldn't you be improving your front brakes first? Just wondering...
