That is plainly wrong and not safe to ride with. How close is the pipe nearest to your footrest, looks as if the two almost touch? IMHO the pipes should fit much closer to the engine in the region by your footrest.
I carefully (so I thought) installed a new system to my Glide a while ago. An experienced Harley mechanic took one look at it, tut-tutted and reinstalled it properly! Didn't look much different to me, but definitely fitted better. How about slackening all the fasteners off and seeing if it will pull in to give a better looking route?
I agree with HotLap in that those pipes are not made to fit your machine. My guess is that those pipes are made to fit 'rubber mount' Sportsters only (I could be wrong tho).
Looking at the Danmoto site and looking at your pics, I think they sent you the wrong pipes. The pipes coming out on the 2004-2017 model (HM-00009)looks similar to yours but I'm not 100% sure based on your pics. The pipes on the 1988-2003 model (HM-00034) seems to bend and come together much higher up.
Pipes are the correct ones. If you look online, no where do they show this pipe mounted on a Sportster for 98-03. Took them off last night, and made a claim with EBAY for the return.
DANMOTO emailed me today about how I can loosen the forward mount up and also shim the pedal out with washers. Too bad it was nice exhaust and quiet.
I share lanes here in California and I need to cover that pedal all the time. I was not safe to ride that way.
My bike is a 2003, Pipes were tagged with correct part number.
I wish they looked like the 2004 and up model. It would fit better.
The pipes I got would work with mid control much better.
