I have a 2005 Harley Davidson Spotter Roadster 1200 that I'd carbeurated. I started my bike this morning to take it to a meeting I had to be at for work. I let bike sit and idle for a while so the motor could warm up, when it was time to leave, I noticed that the throttle was kind of sluggish, as was acceleration. My rpms would amp up, but my acceleration would stay sluggish. I also had issues with backfires and excessive drag. Any ideas?
I found with the Honda VLX I had before the Sportster, if I used the choke other than to just start the bike it would do what you're describing as HOTLAP stated, fouled the plugs.
I used the choke, very seldom needed after I rejetted, and only in cold (mid/low 30's) temps to start the bike. After it was running I used only the throttle to keep the rpms up, and rode off. If I didn't it would run like crap for a couple of miles.
Fuel injection is nice...
