Default Good Price for Used Iron883

I am looking at picking up a 2016 Iron883 for the wife. Local dealership has a clean one in the gray for 7400 with just over 1100 miles on it. I sent them an email offering 7k out the door.

Anyone have an idea on the going price for these? It's my wifes first "real" bike and I finally found a model she liked. Shes a little lady at about 110 lb and maybe 5'4" so finding bikes she can comfortably fit on has been difficult. She really want's a retro style bike but they all tend to be way too tall for her. She sat on Royal Enfield and her legs were dangling 4 inches off the ground. I convinced her to take a look at the Iron by getting her to understand it's nothing more that a jumping off point to building her a bike she will love. We are looking at swapping out with the cafe rear end and seat and a paint job to give her more of the style she's looking for.

Anyways back to the question. Price on a 2 year old Iron with a thousand miles?

Any ideas?

Used bikes that are a couple years old seem to always go for near original MSRP around here, and I'm not sure why since they lose so much value in the first year. My brother bought a 2017 Iron 883 brand new in July of last year for $7200 before tax/title/license and traded it in with 5k miles in February and only got $5k on trade for it.

That being said, used bikes often have some initial accessories that help justify paying near MSRP. Exhaust, intake, tuner, a side bag, and a windshield will set you back $1500-$2000 depending on your preferences so take that in to consideration.

At the dealer we go to in Milwaukee, they price new bikes that have been in stock for several months $200-$300 above invoice and their used bikes are priced at wholesale at a "no-haggle" price. Being in Milwaukee, a lot of the Harley employees buy their discounted motorcycle every year, hardly ride it, and then trade it in because they actually make money on the deal most of the time. They have this 17' Iron 883 with 193 miles for $6,900: http://www.suburbanharley.com/defaul...OwnedInventory

$7,000 OTD is a decent price. What would make it an exceptional deal are two things: 1) Very Important - was the 1,000 mile service done? Can they show you the paperwork from that? It is a very important service, and not cheap. ($300 to $400). 2) Does it have any mods you like and probably would have done, like Rengnath mentioned? Stage one upgrades, (air cleaner, exhaust, tuning) are expensive, especially if you would be having the dealer do the work. Double if a 1,200 upgrade was done). Also, things like handlebars, seats, sissy bars, saddlebags, etc.. also add big cost. So if someone already had some things done that you would have eventually done yourself, the savings has to be part of your decision. So if there's already a thousand or two into the bike on things you appreciate, and the 1k service is done, then the $7K is a steal.

Let us know if you bought this.

You can look up Blue Book, NADA and all values.

I don't know fair price.

MSRP less depreciation year 1, 2, 3 minus $2000? = "x" price.
(Then there are state sales tax and DMV fees).
$7000 out the door maybe okay, I don't know.

Good point about 1000 mile service being done, plus age/condition of battery and tires should be considered.

Good luck.

I bought it 7k OTD. It's bone stock 1k miles. I do all my own service but the Indian dealership I bought it from claims they did it. The fluids are all fresh. I checked. I'll go over everything else once the weather breaks. I rode her home and she ran great. I'm happy so far.

She has a 50cc scooter she rides quite a bit and a '72 cb175 she rides occasionally (it needs some work but my lift is occupied). So I call it her first real bike.
