2014 Iron - Throttle cable stretched?
Mine doesn't and I've adjusted it as far out as it will go and I'm still an 1/8 off the full throttle stop. Has this cable stretched that much and have others run into this?
I assume a new cable is one solution but what have others done?
Make sure the idle cable is not caught on the throttle body where the end of the cable sheath ends. It should be down in the throttle body touching a spring. I have seen mine get caught on the sheath before adjusting the idle cable.
Loosen BOTH throttle cable lock nuts.
Turn in both adjusters to make the metal cable housing at the twist grip the minimum length.
With the handle bars straight ahead-and the twist grip at full throttle-
Gently turn adjuster on throttle control cable counterclockwise
until throttle cam touches throttle cam stop. Release throttle grip.
Turn adjuster counterclockwise an additional 1/2-1 turn. Tighten jamnut on throttle
cable adjuster.
With the handle bars placed to full right-
Turn adjuster on idle the control cable to lengthen sleeve until end of cable
housing touches the spring within cable guide at the throttle body.
Make sure it returns fully - test with the engine idling, turn handlebars lock to lock and confirm the engine speed does not increase.
This picture is a carb but the EFI throttle body is similar, the enlarged portion shows the cable sheath into the housing touching the spring-
EFI is in the bottom picture.

Unfortunately when I turn the adjuster on the throttle cable counterclockwise I run out of threads before I can get the cam to hit the stop. I ended up making a very small spacer to sit down in the sleeve and I was then able to get it to hit the stop and finish the process.
