Default Can someone tell me what this is?

Replaced my battery this weekend and i accidentally pulled a wire out of this thing and cant figure out how to open it up to put it back. Can someone tell me what the plastic thing in the lower right corner is?

The odd thing is that it connects to the positive terminal and also a ground point so im very confused what its purpose is.

Thanks!

Does that red wire come from the battery? My guess would be some kind of fusible link or circuit breaker. What electrical accessories are on your bike? Alarm?

Don't recall seeing anything like that on my 2011 SuperLow. May be a crimp-type wire connector? Suspicious in any event, as one shouldn't mix wire colours like that - black is ground and red is power! Where does the red wire go to?

Thats whats strange, the red wire goes to the positive terminal and the black wire goes to the ground screw. So obviously they cant be connected inside that thing so what the heck is it for?

I bought the bike used 3 years ago and havent added anything. As far as i know it has the standard security system with the FOB and nothing else.

Why not remove the whole thing and see what happens? I can't think of anything I've ever seen that looks like that.

It looks like it's a two prong connector, possibly for a battery maintainer.

I am guessing there's another piece that would plug into your orange connector and allow for both + and - connections.

It appears to be an add on item, so my vote is for a battery charger

This was going to be my guess as well. Some of the older tenders had some stuff like this.

Oh thats a great thought. So the old owner had a charger that would plug into that?

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the responses everyone!.

You need to take a photo of the reverse side of that connector. I suspect that some sort of male plug fits into the other side to connect to a battery tender.
