When I back up my bike I can hear squeaking/grinding noise. I have only noticed in when the bike is turned off (due to the exhaust) and am not sure if it occurs while running. It also only happens when I back up.when going forward, and I'm pretty sure it's coming from my rear tire.
I'm going to attach the videos to give better insight on the sound. Would appreciate any feedback on what you guys think it may be. Thanks in advance!
That noise is fairly common and of no concern. It typically comes from the drive belt rubbing on the side of the rear wheel pulley. When you push the bike backwards the belt track on the pulley shifts to the side and rubs lightly on the pulley edge.

Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? Will it cause long term damage?

Hasn't caused a problem on mine at over 110,000 miles.
Worry about the belt tracking when moving forward on the interstate for hours on end, not while pushing the bike backwards a few feet.

I'm concerned on whether it's the brake rotor and not the belt. My buddys belt rubs and it seems like it doesn't produce as much vibration as mine does.
I listened to the video you posted. NOT saying this is what the noise is, but I had a similar noise coming from the front caliper. I removed the pads, cleaned up the caliper and pads and re-installed pads....noise gone. I did the same to the rear brakes and they work better now as well.
The other folks say it's your belt, I would defer to their knowledge first but it sure sounds just like the noise my brakes made. Good luck.
