I like the looks of this seat for my 1200N, but is it really worth $500.00. I did a search on here and everyone seems to like there Corbin seats, but are they worth the money? I like the idea of the soloand can still use throw over bags.
I like it, just not sure if I want to shell out $500 for one. So far it's the only solo I've found that I can use the throw over style bags. Don't plan on riding with bags on every day, but would be nice when on poker runs or other long rides.
Usualy good looks don't = comfortable, is Corbin all about looks or are they a comfortable seat also?
Don't have one but know several people with Corbins. Its a love 'em or hate 'em scenario. I have never heard anyone fall in between.
Those that claim to love them say how great and comfy they are. Although sit on one and you'll find they most often have a hard feel. That might account for the expression on the faces of the "love 'em" crowd. The words coming out of their mouths say they love them. The expressions on their faces indicate they realize they paid 3 times what they should have for a seat they really don't like but they are stuck with it. Better just brag about how you got a Corbin and hope no one sees through the facade.
Those that hate them say they are a stupid hard ride, way too thin, and grossly overpriced. You are really only paying for bragging rights - to say you own a Corbin seat.
Even the guy I know who went to Corbin and had one custom shaved to fit his a$$ isn't totally convinced about how great it is.
Bottom line is that they are way overpriced. Don't believe me? How many other seat manufacturers offer $200-300 gift certificates at ride events? None. Why? Because their seats cost that much. $200-300 on a Corbin merely brings the seat near reasonable price points.
Corbins don't provide near the level of comfort that a $500+ seat should. For that kind of dough I want heat and a cheek massage.
Corbins? Pass. You can do a lot better for a lot less.
Just got home form a 13 day trip to Indiana on my 1200 sporty with a Corbin hollywood solo seat that has been shaved down. I rode about 400-500 miles per day and must have an iron butt as I felt no discomfort at all. I used a tanned beaver pelt on top of the seat to absorb sweat. Great ride and this is the 4th corbin seat I have had on different bikes over the years. Love them1
