Default New aggrivation - your gonna love this!

Well all was happy and working, had the POS - SE AC replaced last week and have been ridding when possible. Last night, got in 40 miles which was good considering it is deer season and the temp outside is around 40deg. This morning, when on a chilly (38-40deg.) but satisfiing 10 mile wakeup ride and when I got back, noticed oil spots on the garage floor. NOT GOOD! - I don't **** on my floor and no kids, wife, pet or machine of mine is allowed to either. Oil level looked good then I noticed under the AC cover and down the crome was wet oil streaks. WTF!!!! this is getting OLD. I read a couple of posts, one guy put a mini pad under his cover to catch the oil!! there is NFW I am going to do that, I'll shoot the Fking thing first. Have also read, that this can be caused by a miss alligned oil pump. I'm calling the dealer - they will LOVE to here from me again -ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH - WHy?

Ok - just got off the horn with the dealer - this is what I was told. Seams this is a common problem - was told that the backing plate that comes with the stock AC allows any breather blow-by to get sucked back into the engine and burnt, since this is removed when doing the Stage 1 mods, this oil blow-by is no longer being drawn into the engine. My question - I had the Stage 1 mods done back in May or June, and never had any oil till the new filter last week. Was not ridding @ high speeds for any length of time with the new filter, fact is I don't think I was over 40mph since is was so darn cold. the ONLY thing that is differant is the new filter. Now I have oil. A kit ($50) does this little "Y" thing and routes the oil out the back of the bike - basicly lets it drip somewhere else so I don't have to clean chrome, is one suggested fix. Not that I'm any kind of tree-hugger but before with a SC AC and no oil problem, filter craps out - new filter, now oil - I don't get it.

Well - I calmed down, went back out to clean up the bikes little "accedent" with some brake cleaner and walked around to the left side of the bike. It looked like a stabbing victum. Called the dealer back and mentioned I had found the true sorce of the leak - both rocker covers are leaking like they hit an icebergh. Checked the oil level and drive it out to them - what a mess - I never knew a machine could spew so much oil in a 12mile trip. We'll try again. Fotenote: If we had not had 14 straight days of rain, I would not have broken the "21 days" running record - As a laugh, I made the delayed trip out to get my chrome heatsheild 3 days early, as I had mentioned in other posts, why make an extra trip? - Shoulda known. Bike is at the dealer, going to miss yet another run - haven't made one yet, bike always craps out - I'm gonna go get a beer or 2 or 3doz.

Ah, you have blown your rocker box gaskets and found the magical rocker box problem. I don't know what you do to that bike or you just have horrible luck, but you found every defect known to the sportster that exists. That's truly amazing and if I was you I think I would go nuts. I've heard of rocker box leaks, but never experienced one. My valve seals are also still holding up. I've heard of exhaust mounts cracking, but never had one. So far my problems have been an intake leak from a damaged seal and the enricher is acting up. Check your email I'm going to send you a service bulletin for the rocker boxes in pdf format. Print it out and take it to the dealer. Otherwise, you'll have to go back with this problem 3 times. Of course, you could always go back there 3 times on purpose and then use the lemon law.

1200c - was waiting for you to see this, unreal isn't it? But please - leave my sex life out of it if you could (ha ha ha) - I have the service bulitten but will print yours out too (I mentioned it at the dealer but was soooooo pissssssseeeeddd when I drove off, I left it home). My buddy @ the dealer has been promoted as a sort - it is he who is responsible for making sure the shop runs and keeps the customers happy. HE DROVE ME HOME! We've known each other for a while as he is a life long friend of my neighbor, who happens to have a leaf peeper run going on in Manervia, NY today (good luck Sporty)- bring a Frozzen turkey to benifit those less fortunate. If my truck was running I'd still go on the run - we'd all be frozzen turkeys as is is currently sleeting out and he's 45min north of where I am. - Time for another beer - thanks
