Default 2002 trap door torque spec

I just can't find the specs for the trap door on my RK. Last time I looked online I got the wrong spec for my oil pan and snapped a bolt. Any help is awesome thank you

Note this is for a big twin, since you said RK. This is the Sportster section. This is from a 2004 model, but it should be the same transmission:

Transmission Side Door
5/16" screws: 13-16 ft*lbs
1/4" screws: 84-108 in*lbs

There is also a torque sequence for these six bolts to prevent distortion.

Hey thanks a lot. I did not realize this was a sportster thread but I appreciate your help.

How lame is the FSM Pounds-Feet and Pounds-inch. Yet the measurements are almost the same.

10-18 foot/pounds is 120-212 inch/pounds

84-108 inch/pounds is 7-9 foot/pounds. Ok, I get it you might not want to use a big torque wrench, but this is just past hand tight!!!

Why not just pick one, or the other to list torque values. So lame. No wonder people snap off bolts.

John

Mostly because of the tools you'll be using. A 3/8" torque wrench typically only does about 20-80 ft*lbs or so. Some may have low values available, but they're super inaccurate. A 1/4" torque wrench is around 50-150 in*lbs, so they list it in that because that's the tool being used.
