Default throttle housing clip

I have a 97 883 and I installed new throttle cables and housing on right handlebar. While pushing the throttle cable in somthing fell outt of housing. Looks like a small brass v shaped clip. Any idea where it gors?

It might be the little "shoe" that the throttle stop screw (that star wheel thing under the throttle housing) pushes on to provide tension on the throttle barrel. Mine is plastic, but maybe they changed from '91 to '97. IDK, my cables screw into the throttle housing, not push in.

yep, was thinking the same, i just replaced my cables also..........piece fell out, was the throttle tension screw, u shaped thingy

It should go on the throttle tension screw. It keeps the screw from backing out. it's not an expensive part but bad thing is you have to disassemble the right hand control again to get to it.

If it is a sharp "V" shaped piece of steel, it goes behind your brake light switch to hold it in place.

It's the tiny bits that can be most challenging sometimes - also the most rewarding once found and sorted! Well done for noticing it's escape attempt.
