Assuming you mean the post that sticks up in the middle of the seat so yes it can. I run a Mustang seat which has no provision for that mount and it has to be removed. And my seat has never fallen off my bike in over 200,000 miles.

yes...I’m thinking all of my other Harley’s never had a post like this, not my Ultras, Trikes, Street Glides etc and I never felt the seat move...
thanks if possible removing it

I'm not about to take my Sporty seat off to take a look and check, but having owned a wide variety of bikes over the last 50 years they all had some sort of tongue or other feature near the front of seat, to secure it on the frame, plus a screw or two at the rear to keep it in place. In the case of our Sporties that 'post' you want to remove, pain though it is, does serve a useful purpose! Otherwise there is only the rear single screw to hold it on. IMHO removing that post is unwise, to say the least!

The way I read it he wants to remove the center post. It would still have the tongue that slips under the tank in the front and the screw in the back. That is all that holds my Mustang seat on.
