Apologies in advance for this "calm - but gets me thinking" rant:
Winter storage
I've got two choices - the first is the slot in the garage formally occupied by the now unmentionable reason for us getting to know each other, the second is to bring it into school and park her in my office (tight fit through the office door, but I'll geter in there).
Benifits of home in garage - FREE, no hassels, I know exactly where she is, who gets near her and I have a nice little plywood sheild allong with a chunk of actual rail road TRACK (one heavy sombeach too) that my wife would have to cross to get at her with her van. Drawbacks, NO HEAT!
The shop office is in a school and NO ONE usually goes in their, I could lock the door to the office and they key is available only to maintenance (whom I've know for years and WNFW my new scoot) She'd stay warm, I get to see her everyday.
It has been a while since I was excited about the bike and snow is comming soon. Now I could just ride when the roads are clear as the DPW are very good - one of the NYS regs is to make all attempts at clear and DRY road surfaces (except in the ADK park where there are limited areas of restricted salt use) - however winter driving - not really what I want and the salt on my new scoot would be an absolute insult.
SOOO - my season which was the mother of all turds, is ending on a high note, but a bit early[sm=boosign.gif][sm=badbadbad.gif] - but I'l have her in about 12 hrs[sm=bounceybounce.gif]< kinda looks like me
What do you think of my choices for packing it in when old Frostie comes a calling - cause it ain't happening before hand. How important is it to have heated storage?
Yet another point if I choose the school, someone BALLSIE enoughe might FWH and I would have to take out all traces of fuel. Last year I was instructed by the dealer to top off tank, put in fuel stablizer and shut off the fuel petcock. This would keep all the parts submerged and not let them dry out.
Appologies again, probobly time for a new thread - After I get the bike
Fran...You're making out like a Bandit on this one but of course you've been put through hell to get to this point. Thought I would mention that with the '06 you are getting some nice changes. Newer tranny...EZ shifting clutch....Better kick stand...Different engine casings...and from what I've read of the '06's...a more smooth ride...think it has to do with the tranny and the gearing. Good luck with it!
MAN!! What a thread. I just read it all the way through. Agony, tension, horror, expectation, suspense, RELIEF!! I absolutely feel for what you went through, and I'm glad the solution came out so perfectly. Kudos to you and your efforts, and a thanks to the MoCo for following through with the right answer. As to where to keep her...I'm gonna vote for the school. I don't know what sorts of effects cold storage might give you (especially in the Frozen North!!), but having her there where you can look at her each day...unbeatable. And if the day gets to be too much, you can lock the door, straddle the seat and pretend for a few!! Big shot of happy, right there. (Just make sure nobody can lean against the door and hear ya making VROOM! VROOM! noises...is hard to explain) Anyroad, man, enjoy it, I know you'll love it. And the joy will be even greater with the tragedy to compare it to. Makes a good ride all the sweeter.
only 5 hrs - I think I should go put on a diper - just in case I lose control and crap my pants
I think I start a new thread on the storage thing - but not till this is over - which it will be in 4 HRS! - heart and sould are rapidly on the mend [sm=drlove.gif]
problem solved, MOCO Stood tall once again - BRAND NEW 06 picked up at noon as promised - FULL TANK OF GAS - I put on 32 miles, visited sister the bank manager @ work - a couple of buds around town, then back to school so the kids could loose their minds instead of me
Happy does not even begin to describe how I feel - HD MOCO and to all who have followed, help me spread the word

picture of the bike is on pg 4 - oh heck here it is again - the rest are on the way, as soon as I get out of Latenight detention. Yes, it is only three blocks away - probably take an hour or two - oh - I did get "SLAMMED" by a bug while out riding earlier, had the sheild up and glasses on, the darn thing buzzed around inside the helmet till it got out - it was awsome.
