One thing I noticed on my quick release windshield is that the right bottom edge of the winshield support had a black rubber protector on it. I thought it was a little odd there was one on the right and not on the left, but what I ended up doing is just leaving it on there and that protects the throttle cables from the edge of that support. I have no idea if that is why HD put that protector on the one edge or not, but it fits on pretty tight so I don't think I have to worry about it slipping off.

Mine has not been re-routed either. I use it in the winter for commuting, or for long rides on the interstate. Other than that, I don't like the looks of it, but it IS protective.

I put one on my wife's 1200L and didn't re-route anything. I also have one on my Deuce and didn't have to re-route anything on it either. I don't use mine very much at all, but my wife never takes her's off. Haven't had any problems at all.

I re-routed mine becuase it will cause a wear in the cable in time. Thats why the directions says to. Eather do it now or replace the cable later...
