Hi all.
My front mount on the 2005 XL883 has sagged past an acceptable point. So Im thinking of replacing it with either an aftermarket harder rubber or just go with a solid (CNC) mount.
I would be leaving the rear and top mounts as is.
Anyone care to comment/advise on such a combination setup?
I replaced my soft fronts for the harder aftermarket type and they are fine.
Never heard, or thought about going solid on the fronts though, so cannot advise if a good idea or not.

just a thought, do the harder rubbers give less or more vibration?
what advantage do they give?
I suppose you would expect more vibration, but the originals you are replacing will have sagged so much they are not doing their job very well so the harder ones will seem better anyway.
The advantage is that they will (or should not) sag like the originals.
I would think if you replace one with a solid mount, you risk something breaking or stress cracks. I have seen cars break tranny bellhousings by having solid tranny mounts and leaving the motor rubber mounted.

Thanks. Can you provide a link to the one you got?
Cheers.

I would think the replacement medium would be some sort of denser rubber, or synthetic rubber, or maybe plastic, not actually solid!
At most like the poly suspension bushes sold to tighten up the movement of the arms etc.
Thanks. Seems the Drag Specialties brand and Bikers Choice brand (same item?) is the only rubber-type one besides OEM and the solid option by Hardtail Choppers: http://hardtailchoppers.com/2004-up-...or-mounts.html
