Hi Dudepants/ Anthony

Recently I have worked on two Sportsters and their exhaust systems; on my own 2014 bike and a mate’s 2008 and there is a significant change to the “link/crossover pipe” is. specifically where they connect at.
Up to 2013 I would describe as the old design but from 2014 the crossover pipe joins the exhausts at the very end of the headers and not in the muffler bodies as on earlier Sportsters.
Therefore, as Anthony’s is a 2017, I think he may encounter this difficulty. I am not a pro mechanic and happy to be corrected, but having both old genuine HD Workshop Manuals for models up to 2013 and one from
2014 on, I can read this difference and the practical experience above confirmed it.
it is a kind gesture from forum member to another hat you made - good on you!

You are quite correct . I have an 04 and the links are on the mufflers not the headers which makes them a pain in the **** to remove .

but as Apache said, why do want to do this.......Sound or performance, gotta do something to counter the other

Did you ever got a response from DK for your TT's being of center in your exhaust ?

There is a video or instructions on dk's website or there used to be anyway.
Basically, if you have the tapered mufflers, cut the tapered ends off and drive them out with a chisel.

As far as I know they are in the silencers with a Sportster, so you can drill them out at the backsite of the silencer, more then one clips about that on YT.

Default Do V&H loud baffles have packing wrapped around them ?

Now I'm getting confused . I've watched a few YouTube videos and in some of them V&H louder baffles have packing wrapped around them but in others they don't . The quiet ones definitely should be wrapped but I'm just not sure about the loud ones . At the moment I've got loud baffles in but I just don't like the sound . I suppose a compromise might be to wrap them and see it it kills the higher register " slapping" sound that I find so irritating. Before I do that I'm going to put the quiet ones back in for a 1600 mile trip .
