Easy isn’t it midipegs, I’m sure you’ll be enjoying that sound from now on. Just in case you ebay them or sell them the baffles you took off are referred to as the “standard” baffles for your choice of muffler (not “Loud” baffles).
To the post writer who asked; I can confirm what you think midipegs that these pipes are still way louder than stock even with the quiet baffles installed. A slightly deeper tone perhaps though. With stock mufflers it’s scientifically flipping amazing any blinking exhaust gases manage to make it out of the mufflers!!
Also each stock muffler is around 5Kgs (11 lbs) (that’s an estimate from memory) heavier than each of the V&H mufflers. That’s a considerable weight saving overall.
You're not wrong about the weight ! I've got a mint condition pair . I've put them on eBay but I very much doubt anyone will want them .
My mate’s off stake stock ones are ready for eBay too - buyers NONE! Lol x 50 !!
They’re particularly heavy off pre 14 models as they have the cat converters in each muffler.
@Midpegs How "quiet" are those slipons with the quiet baffles? How does it compare to OEM mufflers? Does it just change the tone, or is it still louder than stock?
Ok , just been out for a blast around the twisty back roads around Warwickshire and the difference with the quiet baffles is like night and day ! The sound is deep and purposeful , the throttle response is greatly improved , the low and midrange power has returned , the tick over has increased and is now smooth and regular and the bike is just so much more rideable. So although there is nothing wrong with V&H standard baffles in general , it is fairly obvious that the jetting set up on my bike was done with the quiet baffles in . And that's how I'm going to leave it . Now this may sound daft to some but even the handling has improved because the power is right there on demand . I bet fuel economy has improved but I can't tell just yet . So I'm feeling very happy right now . What a wonderful ride !
Good for you Midipegs; yep, your bike was definitely set up with the quiet baffles in!! It’s great when you have your bike running that sweet across the Rev range. Enjoy the summer!
Just a footnote . My current setup which I'm very happy with is : V&H Straightshots with the " Quiet " baffles , SE filter in the stock housing , slow jet size 45 , main jet 180 . Hope this is helpful . ( 04 XL 1200 R )
