I think this was the bike that I saw in a showroom in 1978 , the colour is the same anyway. I liked it a lot so I decided to buy a Sportster . 40 years and 43 bikes later my dream has come true .
It would be a 1979, it notes the "new" frame and "new" Siamese exhaust from the 1977-79 XLCR Café Racer which would have been the 1979 model which came out in 1978 (75 Years).
1980 is basically identical to 1979, big change is the kick starter was removed as an option and the battery cover was a little different. They are hard to tell apart. but 1978 to 1979 was a big redesign of the Sportster platform with the rear triangulated frame, which they still use today. Good luck.
