I read somewhere that when you put a new idle cable on you don’t adjust the cable but you adjust the idle screw on the carburetor? The idle cable was broken when I bought the bike. Everything idled fine without it but now with new cable it dies. I have it adjusted as much as possible and the throttle snaps back but it won’t idle.
On 2005 sportster 1200C with 19,976 miles on her. Stock CV40 carburetor. Is this correct about adjusting idle screw?
put slack in both cables, adjust idle with both idle screw and primary mixture.
when happy , then adjust both cables for just a little slack at the closed throttle position..
(be sure to check for slack with bars turned both left and right.)
Hope this helps
