I have the same model and year bike as you with mids. I also have the Willie G pegs for passenger, foot and highway. All my pegs do not angle down but are straight. Might be a bit hard to tell, but here is a pic of my current setup...

Reason: add'l pic
Nice bike! The pegs that are angled down are a Chinese knockoff. They look ALMOST the same but the skull is a bit different. Told myself I need to save a bit of $ on this bike so this happens. As simple as Harley's are they (Chinese) can't even get pegs right. After I tried them I looked up the reviews on Amazon (not where I got them) and several others had the same issue. That's what I get. Went to the dealer today and they sold me a set of Drag Specialties pegs that fit perfect and for only $25. The parts guy said as for the streamliner the hole for the pin isn't in the right place. Those DS pegs looked really good then..
From your pic, it looks like you might add a thin piece to the end of the "ear", as you call it, of the footpeg to straighten it out. But different pegs are your better bet.
