Default Need Diagnosis Help

My dad's Friend has a 2007 XL 1200 Custom. It sat for 2 years on a battery tender without being started. Fuse popped on the Battery Tender and allowed the battery to fully discharge and dry up. Was asked to get it running for him again. Replaced the battery. Swapped out the old fuel with new. Bike Started but only ran for 1 to 2 seconds. Could keep it alive by spraying Brake cleaner or starting fluid into the open carb ( Filter removed ). Replaced The Spark Plugs, air Filter and Injectors. Bike would start and run for 3 to 5 seconds backfire and shut off. Could keep it alive with Aerosols. Replaced the Fuel Pump. Bike now starts and idles ( up and down ) for 10 seconds before backfiring and shutting off. Press start again and she will run 10 seconds or so, backfire and shut of. If i twist the throttle, bike dies. If I play with the throttle a little at a time I get higher revs but sounds like it only runs on 1 cylinder.
What am I missing?

I can't be sure but I bet it's the old fuel. If you have a carb, I bet the passages are clogged with old dried gas

Have you checked and cleaned your IAC (Idle Air Controller) That's the primary device that allows it to start and idle. Perhaps it's stuck and not functioning properly.
A malfunctioning IAC will cause the motor to idle up and down. I've seen it on a couple Honda cars.

I have now ... Will be picking up the new replacement tomorrow. Do not know if this one was bad or not but after removing it, I plugged it in and cycled the power ... Do NOT do this LoL The stopper unscrewed itself from the main body and fell on the floor. The spring that USED to be behind it ran away ... Another helpful hint is to heat up the two M4 bolts tht the factory Red Loctite'd into place. I didn't and broke one off in the throttle body.

Default Final Resolution ...

After replacing the Idle Air Control Motor, bike did the same thing. I gave up and took it to the Dealership.they called me the next day with the bike fixed and running. Long story short, the New Fuel Pump I installed from HD was defective. They replaced the new Fuel pump with a 2nd new fuel pump and she fired right up. They saw my list of replaced parts and were scratching their heads. Then a tech grabbed a fuel tank off the bench from another sporty, hooked it up and hit the start button. BAM ... mystery solved.
