Since I trashed my peanut, I'm contemplating the big tank, but honestly, I just don't like it, at ALL. Odds are good I'll stay Peanut.

Thatwas the first thing I wanted to change about my Sportster, I went to the custom tank as well.
I thought it made my lowered bike and paint scheme look better with the larger tank as well. Not to mention the bars I have as well. Next thing on my list is a wider tire on front and back and a longer fender on front. I'm sure by then it will not even look like a Sportster.

A big thumbs up for the peanut tank. I go about 160-175 miles on the highway before needing a fuel stop and by that time I need to get up and stretch a bit so travel distance is not an issue.

The bigger tank is what kept me from buying a custom.

im taking notice to all the guys saying they like the peanut tanks- have the peanut tank..im the opposite--i never liked the peanut tank and was happy to see harley finally changed it..yes it may ave been something that would easily let a person know it was a sportster..but it was long overdue for a change..

for those of you talking the 120-160 mile range there is no way you have the original 1.9 peanut like I have, it just be the 3.3 or something? My tank is a good three inches from meeting my seat, gives it a real bare bones look, however, it is 16 inches long, I am opting for the newer styled tank, long an sleek, still looks like the newer peanuts, ut it is 19 3/4 inchs long!

for the record I did a 300 mile weekend and at one point got 62 miles on .95 gallons of gas

I agree the peanut tank is unmistakingly the popular choice for many sportster owners. However I chose to go with a Custom Chrome 2" stretches teardrop on my '96. I love the look and I can go forever on a single tank of fuel.

The peanut tank looks good when the bike is barebones. I don't like it when you start adding bags and windshields, come to think of it I don't like any sporty with bags and windshields.
