I bought a sportster 883C that was previously dropped. When it was dropped the foot brake pedal took most of the impact causing the linkage to break off. The bolt on the linkage/tie rod broke off inside the foot pedal. So I ordered new linkage rod and pedal.I got the linkage rod and pedal installed today. And now with everything installed the foot pedal is sticking up at like a 65 degree angle vs the normal of like 35 degrees.
There was a lot of air in the lines so bled those but didnt seem to help much. While waiting for those parts in the mail I changed the tires and also changed out the brake pads. Im thinking maybe that affected the brakes somehow with the brake rod not being attached to the brake pedal and compressing the pistons pulled something out of whack?
The linkage that came in the mail is the exact length as the old broken linkage. Posting here in hopes someone has experienced this. Any help would be appreciated Pedal attachment 65degree angle Rear attachment
The OEM HD rods are a fixed length so who knows what you have there but the angle of the lever doesn't look that different to the Custom I have here.
yeah pretty close to yours. If mine was like that I wouldnt be worrying about it but its just high eneough that its an unnatural movement and uncomfortable. I ended up ordering an adjustable rod that I can shorten to help the problem
Yes, I would make it as simple and as natural as it can possibly be. Even a little bit of hesitation in the reaching of that brake could make for a very difficult situation very quickly. I did not like the stock position of mine on my new Sportster and when I got the forward controls on, they had an adjustment method. It didn't take long to understand where I wanted it. You are right, it is very unnatural to have to pick up your whole foot to reach for that pedal. I want it right under the ball of my foot with only a slight sideways motion needed to be on it.
