Wife's 2001 883 custom sportser was sitting for a year during a deployment for the military. The carb and tank was drained while she was gone. Put new fuel in it, new plugs, oil change, and a fresh battery today....nothing! Took the carb off and cleaned everything (was actually very clean) and put it back together. Still nothing.
Started thinking the petcock might be clogged at the screen but it wasnt. Opened the petcock back up and pulled the fuel line from the petcock to carb and it poured fuel.
Took carb back apart and where the petcock line plugs into the black 90 degree plastic mount....nothing is passing through it. (Filled it with carb cleaner and nothing comes out till you turn the carb upside down). I have been told that the plastic mount cant be removed because its pressed in at the manufacturer....I cant figure out a way to get it unclogged.
The bike will turn over for a second with starter fluid being sprayed into carb.
Any help would be appreciated before I spend the $$$ on a new carb.
Did you take the float bowl cover off when cleaning the carb? The float valve is the next element in line - possibly stuck? You most likely can get a rebuild kit cheaply ($20?) that includes a new float valve...

thanks for the response, yeah I did and the float seems to be great. Its almost as if that 90 degree mount is clogged. Like I was saying I filled it with carb cleaner the second time I had it off and nothing would come out till I turned it upside down

Vacuum petcock, check your vacuum lines going to the petcock. You can eliminate the vacuum function with a different petcock setup or modify the one that is there.
Thanks for the advice...you gave a few things to try.
I had always been told that fuel line fitting couldn't be removed because it was pressed in. Do you know if its twisting motion or pulling straight out? Doesnt appear to be any threads on the new one you sent so I am thinking grip and pull.
