Default Cracked induction module?

I was installing a SE stage I cleaner today and noticed what looks like a crack on the induction module / throttle body. I used a torque wrench and alternated tightening the breather bolts to 120 in lbs, per H-D instructions. Didn’t hear any cracks or noises, didn’t have any trouble with the bolts. Not so naive to think I couldn’t have cracked it myself but it seems like I would have heard it at the very least.

Pretty big bummer as I also purchased a fp3 and was minutes away from completing Stage I.

Anyone seen anything like this before? This should be under warranty considering it’s a H-D mfd part and it’s a 2020 XL1200NS with 300 miles on it, right? Or am I SOL? Thanks in advance.

Put the old AC back on, just ride it back to the dealer and let it end there. Dont even tempt fate by leaving that one on and let them blame you.

does it matter that I already ran a new map via the fp3?

Not touching an answer to that because it is over my head. Apparently there was something in 2017 Im not familiar with regarding the EPA and warranties. I dont see why they would need to check your computer to see that its cracked but Ill leave that for others to answer.

There was a flurry of cracked induction modules reported on this forum a few years ago. The wrong length screws were used to attach new SE aircleaners and cracked the housings. Your experience sounds eerily familiar.

Using a torque wrench on small screws is a road to certain disaster as well. Just snug them up by hand, gently. I've read of too damn many mishaps from trying to torque wrench small screws, it's almost criminal. Learn to trust your hands on the small stuff. Good luck.

The dealership may put your bike on a diagnostic machine, which may show the revised fuel map. That may, or may not, cause an issue. But, there's nothing you can do about it now unless you can restore the stock map somehow.

John
