I always heard them referred to as the Charlie Brown head.

I've heard the term "Blockhead" used to refer to the early Evo big twin way back in the 1980's, but have not encountered it since. I don't recall it being used to refer to the Sportster engine, but since both evolved in the early/mid 1980's it might have been an early way to distinguish them from "Shovel Head" and "Iron Head" designs. Obviously, "Blockhead" is not the easiest name to try and use to market a new design, especially if you hope to sell millions of units. I recall thinking it was a pretty stupid name back when I first heard it. Glad they did not stay with such a derogatory name for a very well proven engine design.

Who`s "They"?

The term Blockhead was the idea of some magazine writer who tried to give the engine a name. It didn`t take off....
