so I have an 883 05 sportster that I'm putting a 1275 cc big bore kit on and my grand father gave me a pair of 99 xl1200cc heads I just trying to figure out a way to bolt them up and keep it rubber mounted... I sent them off to be ported and cleaned up, but before I sent them off I was trying to fit them up and the front mount wasn't bolting up. Could I just swap out the bolts or do I need a special bracket and is their anywhere else I'll need to chand the thread or size bolt
Who is porting the heads? 04 and up heads fit 91-03 so they should work with minor changes. Im not sure what all is involved, but it doesnt seam complicated.
Putting 1999 XL1200 heads onto a 2005 models would be a giant step backwards. Those heads are crap. That goes for the dual plugged 1200S heads too. They're also small fin that will look funny and not cool as well.

hammer performance, yeah from everything I've seen they are mechanically the same or at least very similar.

I know it will look a little odd, but may I ask what makes it crap? From everything I've seen they are nearly mechanically the same.
