Default best solo seat for nightster?

looking for a nice comfortable solo seat for my nightster. that will make long rides much more enjoyable. i read a lot of people use the sundowner... but that looks like a two seater to me. i also read some like the mustang solo... but i dont think that the metal trim will look good on the nightster... any other suggestions?

You don't have to get the metal studs on the Mustang Vintage solo seat. It comes plain too.

I don't know how the wide would look on a nightster. The standard width is plenty big I think.

You could also just wait till winter or when your not riding as much and send your stock seat off to http://www.meancitycycles.com/faq.htmland have it reshaped and made more comfortable for less than a new seat would cost.

Not to change the subject, but capttawes -- is your spring seat comfortable at all?

Comfort is a relative term with a thin rigid mount seat. While spring mouting it might help the jolts its actually not bad for rides of less than 100 miles and pretty much the same comfort of a Lepera barebones seat. I run a sundowner for long hauls and rides with the Mrs.. Thinking about getting the SD reshaped and mem. foam added this winter, might also get an HD stock solo seat and have it re-worked. The spring style seat is purely looks and short rides. I also had a Mustang vintage for about 6000 miles and never really liked the looks that much and though comfortably firm for me the Mrs. hated the pillion so I sold it and got the Sundowner.

You used the soetenga spring mount kit, right? Where did you get the seat to mount on it? Is it still easy to swap back to your sundowner?

Have you ridden on a barebones seat to compare ? That's what I have now and it is pretty rough after 50 miles or so...

Love the looks of yours.

Hey Jterp,

My mount kit is a Jammer/West Eaglekit through Custom Chrome #632492 and is rigid not spring and the leather seat came from http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZchoppahead1970. V-Twin Mfr. and Licks cycle both make the spring mount kits which are nice and I almost wish I had the Licks but they wanted $169+ shipping just for the front and rear mount plus springs. You can get a their kit with a small vinyl seat for just over $200.

To swap out all I need to do is pull the fender and tank bolt and it all comes off in one piece, replacebolts and then put the SD on. Sounds like trouble but really only takes less than 5 miuntes and it's not like I swap back and forth daily. As for riding on the Barebones...only sat on one never went for a ride with one but the foam density and thin profile is about the same and is about 1" thick. The seat is 12.5" wide by 15" long so that helps.
