Sticky throttle
02 sporty, got new vans grips. Had to adjust the cable tensioner to remove the sleeve and slide my new grips on. Also cleaned the carb. Now I get no snap back on the throttle. Could it be the cable tensioner? I noticed it snaps back perfect when the engine is not running. When I start it up, throttle gets stuck. Cable tensioner? Throttle body? Maybe cable binding when I put the carb back? Any tips, thanks.

I had this problem, and found a cable tension (pretty slack) which would work, but it, obviously was not right. It turned out to be that some of the glue that held the grip to the plastic tube had pushed back near the end and hardened. That then was rubbing on the handlebar end, causing friction. Removed the excess glue, and it worked perfectly with any cable adjustment. I suspect the cable tightness was pulling the grip inward, causing the rub, hence the lighter tension worked, somewhat.
In thinking about it, if the switch housing were just a bit too far onto the bar, it could cause this problem, without the excess glue.
