In all honesty, I'm not sure it was ever seated completely before this job either... Does anyone have any suggestions?

the threads in the head might be gummed up. Are you using a tq wrench? Does it get tight half way down or at the very end? Did you rotate the rear wheel for front and rear cover install so the lifters are off the cam lobe?

Torque wrench yes but, the bolt stop turning before the specified torque rating. It doesn't get tight till right at the very end. I didn't realize it wasn't torqued till I looked really close... There's maybe 0.1 in play and yes, I rotated the read tire for both cylinders.

I'm debating taking all the bolts back out to inspect it but not sure how that'll effect the gasket. Thanks for your help.

S#!t man, can't I just run a shorter bolt and call it a day?? Ughhhh the reason I did this was Was it was going to be relatively straight forward and cheap. Now If I pull the head bolts out you better believe I'm gonna pull the heads and service then too... Please, can you elaborate a little about the benefits vs the time and $ involved?

I

pull it apart, gaskets will be fine. It may seem like a lot of work, but it’s worth it imho.

the 4 main rocker bolts are different lengths! Do you have one of them in the wrong side?!

huh they didn't seem different but then I never compared them to each other either. It couldn't have been that much difference in them besides a few threads... Yeah I could easily have one in the wrong side which would mean there is another also. But it looked like the other three seated fine and that would lead me to believe they are all the same ...

Nah it's not hard, and I've learned the hard way already... Much easier to tear it apart now instead of replacing pushrods valves and whatever else comes loose later

Default Pushrod tube removal with heads still on?

John
YOu're saying its possible to slide the tube base & the tube out at the bottom?
