Default Security system question

My new to me 1200 low apparently has the HD security, previous owner never said anything about it, no key fob. I didn't know they had them till my insurance company asked if it was equipped. I plugged my Vin into HD website and sure enough it has it.
I'm guessing someone must have disabled it.
I'm I going to run into a problem down the road if I replace the battery, or anything that may enable the system again? I'd rather not be away from home and it not start up due to it deciding its going to do its job.

What year is the bike? It might be that previous owner removed the TSSM for a TSM.

It's a 2007. I've found images of what the unit looks like and I believe I see it tucked between the rear fender and oil tank.

That is a TSM so no security system.

68924-07 is a TSSM that has security.

ok he must have swapped it out then. I'm good with that!

While you're here, what's the general opinion on a rear tire installed backwards? I just noticed the arrow the other day. I don't think he was paying attention when he mounted the tire. It's pretty new.

In some places that would see the bike fail inspection.

The tyre is designed to turn in the direction of the arrow due to construction, due to how it works in the wet and due to how it performs under braking.

It is best to get it put on properly.

+1

Less so for water dispersion and braking on the rear (front gets most of the braking force remember), mainly, the splice is on a bias for strength, it is better for acceleration going with the indicated direction. Rear tires are reversed when used on the front, because of the bias direction and braking forces.

Putting a rear tyre on the front will fail inspection in the UK if the tyre specifically states it is a rear on the sidewall but also the direction arrow will point in the wrong direction. It might also be a failure in other places as well.

I'll try to find a shop to turn it around then. My other bikes never had directional tires.
Shop I used to use when I raced dirt bikes isn't in business any more.

I am just stating the tire manufacturers recommendations and why the arrows are necessary.

Some motorcycles, it's that or the wrong size tires in some cases, from what I understand. No problems here in the USA, AFAIK.

Some even run a rear on the front and a car tire on the back (double dark side).

Insurance companies may have a different outlook.
