Default Help?

Okay fellas I have a 2000 sportster 1200 custom everything was fine had it running noticed a leak near the oil pump set out to fix it now I can’t get it to start. I change the coil I’m just not sure how to check what’s wrong or where to begin to find what’s wrong because I’m baffled that it won’t start now when I try to turn it over it will continuously turn but won’t fire on if I give it some throttle when trying to start it a very thin moisture shoots out of the exhaust in a split second I’ve got a guess I just don’t know what it could be if anybody could help me please

stuff like that can be maddening....

when you say "set out to fix it" referring to the oil pump leak what did you do to the bike?

in other words between the time it was running and then "not running"?

I set out to fix an oil leak at the pump the main feed wasn’t tight enough. In the process. Found my wire from my starter was melting. Dropped the fluids. Pulled the starter out on new wire. And buckled everything back up. I’m truly at a loss for what it could be.

Why was the wire melting? Near something too hot (exhaust) or a current issue?

I would start with the simplest things first, does it have fuel, is the fuel turned on? Then I would check for spark. Pull the wire off and have someone crank it to see if there’s spark or buy a tool that plugs into the wire. Then Go from there.

Sounds like you might be flooding it. You do not have to twist the throttle to start. Just pull the enrichener **** out and hit the start button. Do not twist the throttle!! It's actually pretty easy to flood it out so it won't start. I'm always surprised how many people don't understand how the enrichener system works. Same as for people that horse the gas pedal (or twist the throttle) before starting an EFI vehicle. You don't need to.
