97 sportster 1200 custom transmission question
I've noticed something while stopped and shift into 1st gear and not sure if its normal. With the engine warmed up, choke off and idling at slightly less than 1000 rpm. If I sit on the bike and without touching the throttle I fully squeeze the clutch lever and hold it for 10-15 seconds then click down into first gear the tranny seems like it's still spinning. There's a short "teeth on teeth" noise like the gears are meshing while spinning then the clunk and its in 1st but I don't sense that the bike is trying to crawl with the clutch pulled. Once I get going I don't notice the clutch slipping and if I pull hard on the throttle the clutch seems to hold. Is this a normal HD thing or should I look at a clutch adjustment? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
