I previously posted that i am not able to shift below 3rd gear in my 03 883. I recently changed the clutch out because i figured it was the grenade plate blowing up on me. That was not the case, it was completely intact and i found only one small piece of metal in the case that was not a part of the spring plate. I figured it was snagging and causing the shifting issue. But after putting it back together it is still having a similar issue. No first gear or neutral but second gear will get her to move and it will shift up. Any suggestions? Need any more info feel free to ask. I need my ride..😤

Could be the shift detent wheel clip. The detent wheel keeps the shift drum from moving, which keeps the transmission in the gear selected. The detent wheel is held on by a crappy little clip that is prone to breakage, when it breaks the detent wheel flops around letting the shift drum move. The detent wheel looks like a star, you can see the clip in the photo. the detent is located behind the clutch basket.
The shifter shaft in 2000-03 models sucks imho. The shaft gets beat up over time where the pins run on it, itll burr up in spots and wont shift. I also second John
