Hi all, hope this seasons riding has been good for you. Thought I'd do a barrel check on my 883 over winter, seeing as I have a compression issue. Also looking at tappets (lifters in US parlance). Has anyone got a quick way of getting these things out?
I've loosened it and it swivels slightly and feels as it's held with 'O' rings. Short of grabbing the thing with Mole-grips and pulling vertically, while twisting, I'm not sure. Tried sliding a blade under while twisting, but nothing is giving way...I have a binding tappet on the front cylinder inlet, so need to check condition of suspect tappet. Any pointers will be much appreciated. Thanks.

You are correct on the o-rings
The bolt you`ve already removed is the only fastener
I`d pad my pliers and give it a go.
