Hello fellow riders,
I ride a 2017 1200 sportster roadster. At the moment I cannot get it to start up. I recently replaced the stator and voltage regulator because it seemed that every time I would ride, the battery light would come on and then I turn the bike off, it would not start again. Replacing these parts did not solve the problem. The reason I replaced the stator is because the wire was burnt and exposed near the voltage regulator so I thought maybe bad voltage regulator as well. I will include picture.
So after reinstalling everything, I am now having a problem with my shift lever. The lever seems like its locked. I cannot shift up but I am shift down.. cannot get into N .
last problem is that when I turn on the bike, the fuel pump gets primed but it stays on and will stay on for minutes. I know that the sound with you first turn the bike in is only supposed to last 2 seconds anyways. Please help thx
Ya need to go back over what ya did and look for the problem with the shifter. Ya had to remove the primary to get at the stator, so check the shift springs. Might wanna run a Diagnostic Error Code scan for the fuel pump.
Thanks for the reply, on one of my batteries I use my multi meter and it reads 12 v. maybe it could be the battery? Maybe I screwed up the battery while riding it with a bad voltage regulator?? Thx again
on one of my batteries I use my multi meter and it reads 12 v
You need to be including tenths of a volt as the percentage of charge goes from 25% charge at 12.0 volts to full around 12.7 volts. But that is only part of the story and won't tell you if it can deliver starting amps.
