Has anyone had the LED Strip under the speedo which has dummy lights for left/right signal, neutral light, oil light and high/low beams go out ? I looked on Ronnie’s Harley Davidson OEM parts finder micro fiche and the part I found has an extra plug I don’t remember seeing when I pulled it out to look at.
Yep, I changed mine (2018 48) out recently after the left turn warning went out. Jersey HD pretty much said they keep them plenty of in stock as they frequently go out with no warning. That extra plug is hidden under the back cover of the Speedo, I think it’s a tx8 or 10 to open it. It’s a quick swap but you may get sone communication codes thrown up, mine triggered the CEL until I cleared them.
It is a complete harness you have to purchase that goes from under the tank to the speedo. I had one fail.
The PCB is conformal coated but it failed at the left side, the board corroded, a capacitor fell off and the left indicator failed.
I gave it away and the recipient was able to get a mate to repair it.
I would suggest if you get the new one to closely inspect the board and give it another coat of vanish.
Is there a particular varnish/lacquer You would recommend? I thought it would have been corrosion but as it didn’t look particularly serviceable I didn’t really look at the old one any further and just tossed it. I’m guessing the reason they seem to go on the left is that that’s the lowest point when on the stand and would be where any water pools.
On mine all the lights went out. I get nothing, no Neutral light, no turn indicators, no oil light to come on momentarily as oil pressure builds in that first few seconds, nothing so I figured the whole board went out. I’ve got the momentarily lit check engine light on the Speedo that comes on then off. I wouldn’t mind if the neutral light and signal lights were out but the oil pressure light is kinda my issue it be nice to know if I lost oil pressure.
