ORIGINAL: xxxflhrci

While the MoCo says 1 quart in 1k is acceptable, I say it's not. My Twin Cam needs zero oil added between changes, neither does my Ironhead.........However, I have my Ironhead's original owner's manual. It says that 1 quart every 500 miles is acceptable.....For the same year, the Big Twins acceptable oil usage rates were stated to be 1 quart every 250 miles...Imagine that.
Wow 1 quart every 250 miles?!

dallas I read a service update that states the reccomended oil capacity is wrong . I dont recall the exact number but I am thinking it is 2.8 instead of 3.6 . Is the oil level dropping to a certain point and staying there? I know there has been some issues with some of the conversions like nallins 1250 burning oil but yours is a factory 1200 correct? I think it has something to do with the oil squirters.

Lets see I have 21.5k on 1200R 2004. I have had both the rocker gaskets replaced the bottom end and top end gaskets. Both cylinders. I have had the rear cylinder replaced at the dealers expense. Don't ask!!! I am now running syn 3 no leaks touch wood. I love the way the engine runs in the Texas heat with it.

The dealer recommended the 2500 mile service but like you said the manual says 5000 so I told them too bad.
