Default Dealer Has My Bike Hostage!!

Need some advice on how to deal with this (besides the numbing effects of alcohol and some wicked drugs):

Last month, I posted anissue with my sporty (sounded like a diesel).Being that I had the extended warranty, I dropped it off at my local stealership (I know, mistake number one) on 7/30. As of today, mybike is still sitting in the shop. I have had all kinds of excuses fromwaitingfor the factory to helpthem outbecause they are baffled, warranty adjuster has yet to show, to waiting for parts to come in. Apparently it was some bearings, etc. I called the warranty folks and they informed me that two weeks to the day after my bike was at the shop, my bike was first reported down by the service department.

Is thiscommonwith extended warranty issues or is it just the dealer dragging it's @$%*! feet?

On a side note,as a fellow forum member andfor those of you in the DFW area, I must inform you to stay away from HD of Dallas in Allen.

this is not the norm. Sounds like it's time to turn redneck on them and show up with ( what they think is ) a lawyer.

The process might be time consumming (of course having your bike this long was too) but I bet they would rather get it back to you quicker than deal with the Lemon law.

Call Harley-Davidson Customer Service in Milwaukee. That's TOTALLY unacceptable. The number is:

414-343-4056.

I already tried customer service. They called the dealer and were told the same song and dance that they are working on it. The CSR advised that there is nothing they can do since the dealer, in their opinion is, makinga full face effort to get me on the road again plus they are an independant dealership that they cannot control. The dealer advised her that my bike has not gone a day without someone working on it to get me going (I guess they are doing it one nut and bolt at a time). Funny thing though, they failed to mentionthat it had been in the shop for over three weeks!!!! Nonetheless, the only thing she could do is jot it down as a bad service complaint and move on. Her advice was to just take it somewhere else next time!!!!

I took capttawes advice and looked up the TX DOT lemmon law info. Although they could do nothing for me since the bike is an '05 now covered under the extended warranty, I was referred to someone with the Attorney Generals Office. I gave them the info and he was going to call them and find out what is up. Extended warranty issues are covered by the enforcement branch which can assess penalties and so forth. He did warn me that as a typical dealer does, they may just drag their feet after this type of complaint and drag it on even further until they get a notice of violating a consumers rights and then miraculously have the bike ready to go.

Got my bike back from my new dealer this morning!

I had a oil leak being checked out, while my new dealer had it they found a couple of problems, oil leak was cam cover gasket and counter shaft seal was leaking also2 leaks, fixed them. they also noticed the motor had a pretty good tick to it, which my old dealer said was normal. (I didn't believe him) Turns out one of the head gaskets was bad, They took the whole top end apart Both cylinders,New gaskets thru out! He said the gaskets came as a kit,so they did it all!

Here's the real kicker! I only dropped it off monday about 10:30 am, I picked it up today WED.around 11:30 am.

These folks Have a Rockin service dept., They have my loyalty Now!

Insist to speak with the owner of the dealership.... Not the service manager or GM.... The OWNER.... That is the best way to turn the heat up, based on what I've seen.

There ya go. That was gonna be my next suggestion. I bet if the TX attorney general's office calls Customer Service in Milwaukee, things will speed up considerably. I had to resort to such tactics once, it was a pain, but VERY effective.

Sounds like they giving priority to "paying customers", and dragging their feet on warranty items..

Not a good policy...
