Didn't realize the transmission was in a separate case inside the case.
Prichmon. Please post some pictures to enlighten us.
There is a couple Sporty experts on here for sure who have been in there. Keeping your thread on the top.
Sadly, seems all the you tube is older then 04. But there some good ones. The gear case comes out the left side after cover is removed.
Case not being necessary to be split. On your left side case, out board side, you don't see the plate bolted to it for the left side cover of the transmission gear train?

- sorry but on a 2004- there is no trapdoor access- there is no trapdoor at all. Cases have to be separated.

Thanks. I was looking in the fish and saw no trap door on 04. Then I looked in the 03 and it didn't either. So I sorta assumed I just couldn't find the right page .
But it sure also doesn't show a separate box around it.
The 2002 appears the last of the trapdoor.
If you look the the left case half on the 03 onward, it appears to have a small plate that may retain the transmission from dropping out. It's show were the trap door use to be. But like you said, it comes out from splitting case.
Does the transmission have a separate area starting then for it's own oil?
Just trying to learn. Guess I better get ready for the bricks to fall from another certain user.

Read the post, the cases are split.
John
Thanks. Yes, I knew that but was just agreeing for other poster RDHIGH that case needs to come apart after he corrected me.
Also to first poster, the left side case were the trapdoor use to be had a small plate that appears to be a retainer to let cluster come away now towards inside of case.
And after reading my 2009 Sporty Service manual, one really needs a service manual this deep into it. in my opinion.
