hi all I have an 02 sportster 1200c my problem is that sometimes my blinkers will not
work, I can try them 100 times with nothing then out of the blue they work again, then
i'll try them 2 hours later and nothing. I know there's a box under the seat to control them but I don't want to give the dealer the hundered plus for the part not knowing if this is the problem has anyone had the same problem and what did you find.
thanks, sporty 02
Electrical problems suck hind tit. Could be the switch, could be the modual (manual needed for location) or could be a wire has chaffed and is grounding out. All electrical problems cause me to drink heavily - then look for it (then pay dealer) - usually if it is not a running issue (bike won't start) - I'll ignore it - that's why we can use handsignals - more beer money
Unfortunately, you probably just need to start trouble shootin'. Check all the bulbs and bulb sockets. If you've gotten moisture in the sockets, you could have some oxidation. You can clean the sockets and bulbs with emory cloth and use some of that white electrical grease stuff. Then start tracing the wiring. Look specifically up under the rear fender. Oftentimes, the wiring harness comes out of the bracket and rubs on the rear tire causing gap in the wiring. If any mods were done like relocating the turn signals, who every did the mods could have taken a few short cuts, maybe just twisting the wires and taping them with electrical tape.
sporty02 - it's Wednessday - no work today - 5min till 9 - time to start drinking so you can go have fun with that electrical problem - my advice - drink good stuff - it's a holiday - no seriously - good luck and I hope it's a simple get - tel ya what - I feel so bad about the situation that I volunteer to do the drinking for you[sm=icon_guiness.gif]
