Default Need A Six Hole Derby Cover in Omaha Today

Real shot in the dark here: I got a call yesterday from someone who needs a six-hole Sportster derby cover today (Aug 2). They are heading to Sturgis tomorrow and are screwed if they can't find one.

Dude was changing his primary/trans fluid, and "the old one just fell apart". Not sure what that means. I haven't seen it. (Just to be clear, the one that failed was NOT one of mine!!)

None of the local dealers have any in stock. I don't have any in stock (all my pieces are made to order).

So, if anyone within a reasonable distance of Omaha has one lying around that you'd be willing to part with, please let me know.

Best way to reach me is Jeff@omahaderbycovers.com, or you can call my shop phone at 402 321 9639.

TIA

Sorry I can’t help. Did your friend find one yet?

I’d love to hear the story on what happened to the one that “fell apart”. I’m not even sure how that could happen.

To be clear, I have no idea who this guy is. He's part of a group who headed west this morning. One of the girls in the group did some searching and Google pointed her to me. Which I suppose makes sense, since putting in any combination of "Omaha" and "derby cover" into a search is bound to point my way.

I followed up with her last night, and good news is they managed to scrounge something from a friend of a friend. So the trip is back on.

I'm curious too how this happened. Maybe in a few weeks I'll reach out and see if I can get more of the story. One thing that does come to mind: I've bought a bunch of aftermarket derby covers (just to see what's out there) and some of them really are total crap. A lot of them are just chrome plated plastic. It wouldn't surprise me if those eventually deteriorated and fell apart. But that's just guesswork. A more likely scenario is he dropped his bike, was too embarrassed to tell his friends about it, so he fudged the story.
