Default ID of drain hose

Say People;
Does anybody know the id of the engine oil drain hose for a 2005 or 2008 Sportster? Thank you! (I plan to fit a valve that I can operate with one hand)

OP- why not measure it with a caliper or even a tape measure?

From looking at the pictures, it looks like it might be one size a the tank, and another at the drain stopper. There seems to be an intermediate section that might have both diameters. Take a look at the microfiche.

Certainly on the 2008 it is somewhat tapered, smaller at the drain plug end. 12mm at the tank 9mm at the plug. It is also shaped with two bends in it that a stock bit of pipe may end up kinked so the oil wouldn't readily drain.

Trouble is, to measure the opening diameter, I'd have to pull the plug. The whole set-up is mickey mouse. I'm thinking 3/8 or 7/16". My '91 was so much more convenient!

But I just gave you the diameter of both ends on a 2008 drain pipe.

Thank you. That's 3/8" & 1/2" (or 15/32")

Your picture is the hose (#22). Doesn't the plug (#14) fit into the sleeve (#15)?

The sleeve fits in the engine casing. The hose passes all the way through it and then hangs under the engine. The plug goes into the end of it secured with the Jubilee clip.
