Default Right hand control reinstall

Hey everyone. So i'm running into an issue on my 07 xl883c when trying to reinstall my right hand control. I have 1" diameter bars, the original housings but when i'm trying to get the two housing to clamp back over the bars it feels like its damn near impossible. The switches arent the all in one piece (the can bus) where i can just take the top off but rather the two piece that have wire that run to the upper housing. Any one have any tips to get this to clamp down? I know that previously when i tried to remove the housing it was a tight squeeze because there just wasnt enough slack it felt like.

Have you replaced the stock bars with an aftermarket item, if you have, do the aftermarket bars have dimples for the wiring to go into?

They have cutouts for internal wiring. I have it ran through the bars i just can't get the right fitment for the darn upper housing wire to route properly.

The perils of handlebar replacement! You must observe how things come apart, closely, in order to get them to re-assemble correctly. (Ben-there-done-that) Good luck.

That dimple near the end of the bars is where the wires tuck in.

How about assembling the two housings off the bars, and figure how to jam, squish, finagle the wires in the housing allowing for handlebar clearance?

There is a small tang on the right hand lever mounting perch that has to be located in a slot in the switch housing for the two halves to connect properly, I have highlighted it in the image below.
