Default Driving Lights

Hello everyone,

2003 Sportster and I am looking for driving lights or additional front lights to be more visible to others on the road. I have installed a brighter bulb and LED turn signals but looking for more. I have a 2011 Electra Glide Ultra that came with the extra driving lights, and it certainly is easier to see coming down the road.
Thanks for any help. Now go for a ride today!

Keep It Simple. Change to an LED headlight. THAT will make ya a hell of a lot more visible that LED turn signals. If yer so paranoid, get a bright neon green with red stripe reflective vest.

One easy test and it improved my lighting considerably is to make sure the headlamp is actually set up correctly. Mine was pointing at the ground just in front of the bike. After adjusting it I converted it to LED, that made a huge difference for night riding.

I have Custom Dynamics ringz front indicators that add a couple of dots either side of the headlamp. Not really driving lights though.

Be careful if adding big bright lights that the wiring and charging system can take the additional load.

After numerous cars pulling out on me, I installed cheap LED lights on the front forks and either side of my Daymaker headlight on my Iron 883. I also installed wraparound turn signals, I suppose it is overkill, but no drivers have pulled out in front of me since the LED's were installed, the day running lights only cost me about $30.00 in total, excluding the H-D Daymaker, it was around $400.00.

Just a couple more should really make you conspicuous!

A mate of mine remarked that my Iron looks like a mobile Christmas tree, I removed the lights on the fork sliders.

The wrap around turn signal loghts are machined from aluminum billet and anodised silver, they have 360 degree LED's on them and they are hjeld in place wirh a stainless grub screw. Not bad for £16.00.

Some companies make really good low cost stuff and some places utter crap.

They look very effective.

To me, it seems he replaced the upper turn signal housing with driving lights and then installed a lowered turn signal kit to keep legal.
This seems a very clean/ nice installation.
The lower fork tube Led Lights seem functional for lighting the road, yet as for the installation, I wonder how you hide the wires.
LOL, I could agree with the statement, "looks like a Chirstmas tree" LOL.

Lastly, I recall HD sells a driving light install kit for XLs, which has 4" lens.
That kit may also give a clean install.
And a Led headlight makes a noticeable improvement, with non HD Daymaker choices around $40.

Good luck with your project.

I installed the wrap arounds in 2019, no problem with them so far, I fell luck with them, a quality item at a bargain price.

The guy who said my Iron 883 looks like a Christmas tree will be buying it soon for £3500, I've recently installed new piggyback shocks and Avon Cobra Chrome tyres, he is also getting a brand new pair of genuine H-D stock black mufflers, he thinks the 2.5 slash cut Python's are just too noisy. The bike has only covered 3500 miles from new, so he is getting a bargain.

I have had my Sportster for 8 years and have done a little over 43,000 miles.

I converted the Sportster to a trike for my partner around 7 years ago and she has done 38,000 miles.

You really need to get out more RRR! LOL.

Your friend should be well pleased and could well double its mileage by the end of the season. They do need to be ridden and not just admired, IMO.
