, once I arrrive at my distination, I can quickly remove the thing, hopefully before too many people see it on the bike.
That's funny

I think someone should come up with an inflatable type. Or maybe one that is telescopic, kinda like the antennas on some cars that collapse back down into the hood/trunk.

OK, who want's to get rich with me and invent one of these things?

OK, my Memphis Shadesshowed up today.

I put the silly looking thing on. I am very happy that I did not spend a whole bunch of money for a windshield.

Like others have said, those with forward controls will get air deflected up from your shins. I thought my sunglasses were going to wobble off my face.

While test riding at approx. 65 mph on the interstate, there was a very noticable difference when I moved my feet back. I do not have an extra set of mid mounted pegs, I just put them on the passenger pegs for a few seconds.

Another problem is clutch cable & throttle cables rubbing or binding around the mounting hardware. Something to be aware of.

I will do some more experimenting in a couple of days. No time tonight or tomorrow.

Indy is having a Ride To Remember Sept. 11th ride tomorrow. I am hoping to get to go.

I contacted Windvest and they told me to definitely go with the 16" version. Anyone got a pic of this installed?

I have a standard height HD windshield that works great for me. It hits just below my line of sight, which forces me to remember to sit up straight (otherwise I would tend to slouch). The windshield really does help.

On a similar note, has anyone tried those leather "screens" that go on the engine guard to block air flow/water off your legs? Are they worth the money? Do they look ok?

I have the HD detachable Compact Low Profile on order. I had the 17" Memphis Fatson the Honda Shadow, and that worked really well for me. I think the low profile will work for me too, considering the headlight/seating height differences between the Shadow and my Sporty Low.

Last winter, Ilooked at those "screens" you mentioned, and I thought the vinyl ones were the better deal(cheaper and more weather resistant, and won't stretch out of shape as badly as leather). They seem like they would work. It also seems to be one of those things that "If it keeps me from being miserable, I don't give a d*mn how it looks!" I would think they look like crap, but if it keeps a 40 degree, rainy wind from blowing up my pant leg, who CARES how they look? I might be willing to try it out. If we are both thinking of the same thing, they are designed to slip over the engine guards, and tied down to fit...fairly easily and quickly. At least in THEORY, it's a practical idea. If I decide to try 'em out, I'll let you know.

I'm 5'11' and use the standard height HD Quick Detach and have added the top and side pieces from Laminar Lip. They sort of turn the windshield into a poor man's fairing. I also use the soft lowers on the engine guard. Some may not like the look, but all this together really makes the bike a year-round rider.
