Default Decided which model to buy.

I have finally decided which bike I'm buying. Cost & monthly payments were a big factor. So after checking everything I have decided I'm getting a '06 883 C $8,070.00 base.

Other factors were I'm only 5'6" so any bike will look big with me on it LOL. I'm 47 years old and don't care about speed or power (anymore) But really, the 06 comes with 4.5 g tank. Forward controls, pullback bars & two up seat. will change pipes of course but other then that just want to add a sissy bar & I'm good to go. Looking to get it in Feb , Since it's around 20 degrees in Feb. here in MD I'm Hoping to maybe fine a deal. But no biggie. Just glad I decided on something LOL

I'm really looking forward to get back to riding after being away for about 10 years.

Something to consider. Since HD dealers are flooded with the bikes that the dealers on the gulf coast aren't open to sell due to the hurricane, and as a result since HD is offering additional months of warranty as incentive to buy this fall, you may find your best deal right now.

Just dont pay a single penny over MSRP! If you do, the dealership is taking you for a ride literally!

John_O,

If you wouldn't mind an '05 model the Mechanicsville Dealer (All American HD in St. Mary's County) and the Rockville Dealer (Battley Cycles in Montgomery County) still had some '05 Sportsters in stock as of a few weeks ago. I bought my '05 XL 1200C at Battley in late September and got $500 off MSRP, $500 in store credit for motor clothes or accesories plus 10% off any in store purchases for 30 days. Battley sells other brands in addition to HD so you could use the credit/discount for non HD helmets, clothes etc.

Love my Sportster!

All American is moving to Hughsville on Rt. 5 just north of town. Going to be a much larger dealership -- maybe they'll have a grand opening sale! There is also a large dealership in Annapolis (HD/Buell of Annapolis) with a good selection of bikes to look at and they do have a few demos you can ride.

Have fun looking!

John,

Congrats on your decision. I just bought my first Harley (a Sportster) less than two weeks ago. It's a used '99 883C Custom and I love it. However... Since you might be able to swing a better deal than you had expected, I'd suggest you consider a 1200 rather than an 883. I've put several hundred miles on my 883 in the past two weeks and I find myself wishing it had more oomph. Cracking the throttle when merging onto the freeway is underwhelming and having a little more pull-away power to escape situations would definately be nice. Granted, I weigh in and 195 so that might be a factor but consider it food for thought, nonetheless.

Whatever you decide, enjoy!

Chuck
