Default I'm getting closer...

In my epic journey to purchase a Sportster Low, I have finally taken yet another small step for man, one giant leap for mankind... Ok, so it's not THAT groundbreaking, but it's COMMITMENT! I put a non-refundable $1,000 down on a new 20071200 Sportster Low in Olive Pearl/Black with forwards. Ithas five miles on theodo, and 3.7 miles on both tripsettings. I'm gonna "butcher" the looks by making certain....um..."comfort enhancements". You know, like HD QD Compact Low Profile windshield, black engine guards, Progressive 11" shocks on the rear, Reach 2-up seat, side stand extension (I make no secret of my short legs!), my currentthrow over saddlebags,etc...I'm gonna see if I can ride it around for a few days like it is, breaking it in while the parts are on order. Then in a couple of weeks I can take it in to have them put all the "goodies" on and perhaps even have them do the 1000 mile service while I'm gone to the Philippines for a couple of weeks (I leave Oct. 1, and don't want to leave a new bike alone in an uncovered, ungated apartment complex parking lot for two weeks).

Now for opinions on one of the mods I have planned...and yes, I've been posting long enough to KNOW what I just asked...OPINIONS...The Low is a combination of blacked-out and chrome components...the bike is olive/blk. I want a detachable sissy bar, not necessarily for two up, but a place to attach duffel bags, backpacks, luggage, helmet,or any other crap I might decide to haul around. The short rail upright seems a little too short, and the low upright seems just a little too tall. The medium low upright seems just about perfect. The rear fender bracket is black so I was thinking of going with wrinkle blackcomponents. Now here's thechallenge...The medium low upright ONLY comes in chrome. But both the short rail and low come in wrinkle black (as well as gloss black). Sooooooo.....I was thinking of getting theblackhardware with the chromeupright, thinking it may actually work to contrast, yet compliment. The backrest pad will be black. I think it might look good, butI don't want it to look likea failed experiment! It will not have a luggage rack initially.
The choices are: 1)black mounting hardware with chrome medium low upright and black backrest pad
2)all chrome hardware with chrome medium low upright and black backrest pad
3)all black hardware with black low upright and black backrest pad

4:00 am: Damn Robert, don't you ever sleep?
I'd go either all black or all chrome, don't think I'd mix em up...
Of course, if you look at my bike, it's kind of a mix of Black and chrome...
Congrats on the bike...Let's go ride!!![sm=biker.gif]
