Usually between 75-100 miles. But if the destination is ~125 or less...I'll ride straight through. With it being so wide open in most places in NM, I kinda get into a "zone." Once I'm in that zone I can ride for quite a while and not be the least bit uncomfortable.
About every 50 miles when I'm packing my GF. When it's us and my friends, it's every bar/tavern along the way. By myself between fillups, 200 miles for a quick smoke break and stretch.
Last weekend a bunch of us got together and did a 270 mile round trip run to western WI. The longest we went was 97 miles without a stop. The shortest was 60 miles. I was the only sportster amongst1 fatboy, 1 dyna wideglide, 1 yamaha v-star, 1road king, and 6 baggers.
I gotta say, riding 2 up, 60 miles isn't too bad but that 97 mile jaunt, I could tell the ol' lady was feelin pretty bad as she was squirmin a bit towards the end.
On the bright side, I still got 55 mpg riding 2 up. Not too bad for an "old fashioned' carburated bike!
